We all love to share the great places we’re visiting while we’re on vacation. As tempting as it might be to share what a great time you’re having or to make your friends jealous by “checking in” at your deluxe suite overlooking the beach in Hawaii, you might want to think twice. If you’re in Hawaii, that means no one is at home. Criminals know what to look for and they’re on the lookout.
Pictures are great, but you might want to wait until you’re at home to post them. If you’re relaxing on the beach, with your umbrella drink, your valuables at home now have a bull’s-eye on them.
If you do want to post a few pics, make sure to review your privacy settings before you leave. Make sure your social media posts and accounts are set to private. With Facebook you can set up your account so only your closest friends and family can see certain posts. Do you need to share your beach pics with that person you haven’t seen since fifth grade?
You may also just want to unplug yourself for your entire vacation. After a day or two, you might even enjoy being offline.
